Römstedt is a municipality in the middle of the Lüneburg Heath in the district of Uelzen , Lower Saxony . The municipality of Römstedt belongs to the integrated municipality of Bevensen-Ebstorf .

The municipality of Römstedt consists of the localities Drögennottorf , Masbrock , Havekost , Niendorf I and Römstedt.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972, the communities Drögennottorf, Masbrock and Niendorf I were incorporated.

Municipal council

In the local elections on September 11, 2011, the electoral community won all nine seats.

Mayor / Administration

The mayor is Bernd Lüders (community of voters) (since 2004 ). The municipal administration is located at Göhrdestraße 11.

The description of the coat of arms reads: In the silver - green shields divided obliquely to the left with a graft cut (five grafts), a red circular cross at the top and a silver poker hook at the bottom.

Buildings

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Matthew Church is in the center of the village. The church was named after the evangelist Matthew . It has probably been around since the 13th century, when it was probably built by the local noble families as a castle and palace chapel. Throughout history, the church has been renovated and enlarged many times. The Matthäus-Kirche has a Furtwängler organ, two church bells and a figure of a Man of Sorrows .

In addition to Römstedt, the parish of Römstedt includes the villages of Gollern, Havekost, Masbrock , Höver and Niendorf. In 1545 the Reformation was introduced. The church has a cemetery on the northern outskirts.

Sons and daughters of the church

  • Wilhelm Schulze (1861–1958), blacksmith, agricultural machinery manufacturer, learned the blacksmith's trade in the Römstedter forge from his father Heinrich Christoph Schulze (1835–1898), expanded the Römstedter forge to Bevenser Maschinenfabrik AG (production of threshing machines) from 1885 and founded it in 1909 the standard work Wilhelm Schulze in Hanover.
  • Wilhelm Lüdeke (1897–1974), teacher, organist and local history researcher in Römstedt since 1936, retired in 1962
  • Jörg Sievers (* 1965), former soccer goalkeeper at Hannover 96 .
