Rudolf Pagenstecher (General, 1802)

Rudolf Victor Gabriel Pagenstecher (born April 22, 1802 in Osnabrück , † May 6, 1889 in Pfaffendorf near Koblenz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and inspector of the 3rd engineer inspection.

Life

origin

His parents were the postal director Heinrich Rudolf Pagenstecher (1765–1804) and his wife Maria, née Schwarze (1784–1843) widowed Corsien.

Career

Pagenstecher visited the school in Osnabrueck and entered after graduating on May 1, 1819 as the pioneer in the Guard Pioneer Division of the Prussian army one. As Portepeefähnrich he graduated from October 1820 to September 1822 for further training at the United Artillery and Engineering School . In the meantime, Pagenstecher advanced to the position of second lieutenant in the 3rd engineer inspection. On October 1, 1822, he was transferred to the 4th pioneer department and after three years he was promoted to department adjutant. From April 1828 he was assigned to the fortification service in Wesel , Jülich and Cologne . He was promoted to captain by mid-May 1842 and the following year he became the commander of the 2nd Company in the 7th Engineer Division. After several months of assignment to the fortification service in Cologne, Pagenstecher was transferred to Erfurt with the appointment of commander of the 4th pioneer department . In this position he rose to major in early December 1850 . This was followed by assignments as an engineer officer from November 1851 to March 1856 from the square in Minden and then in Cologne . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 15, 1856 and transferred to Koblenz on June 5, 1857 as inspector of the 3rd pioneer inspection. In this position he rose to colonel at the end of May 1859 and received the Knight's Cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern on September 26, 1860 . On June 6, 1861 he was commissioned to lead the 3rd engineer inspection in Koblenz and on June 4, 1862 he was appointed inspector of this inspection. He was promoted to major general on March 17, 1863 and lieutenant general on June 8, 1866. Under the star ceremony for Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves was on 18 June 1867 Page Stecher board for disposition made. He died on the night of May 5th to 6th, 1889 in Pfaffendorf near Koblenz.

He married Karoline Pütz (1809-1883), a daughter of postmaster Karl Pütz , on October 9, 1829 in Meurs, in the Geldern district . The couple had several children including:
