Sânsimion or old spelling Sînsimion [ ˈsɨnsimion ] (outdated Sântsimon or Simoneşti ; Hungarian Csíkszentsimon or Szentsimon ) is a municipality in Harghita County in Transylvania , Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Sânsimion is located in the Eastern Carpathians in the historical Szeklerland on the upper reaches of the Olt ( Alt ) river. On the left bank of the Alt, on the county road ( drum județean ) DJ 123A and the railway line Sfântu Gheorghe-Siculeni-Adjud , the place is about 12 kilometers southeast of the district capital Miercurea Ciuc ( Szeklerburg ).

The highest population of today's municipality - and at the same time that of Hungarians - was 1977; that of the Romanians (62) in 1956, that of the Germans in 1930 and that of the Roma (81) in 1966. In addition, in 1900 and 1930, one resident identified himself as a Ukrainian , one in 1900 and one in 1930 as a Slovak .
