Joseni (outdated Alfalău ; ung. Gyergyóalfalu or Alfalu ) is a municipality in the Harghita district in Szeklerland , in eastern Transylvania in Romania .

Joseni consists of three districts: Borzont, Bucin ( Bucsin ) and Joseni ( Gyergyóalfalu ). In 2002 the place had a population of 5721 inhabitants, of whom 5586 were Magyars , 72 Roma , 58 Romanians , two Ukrainians and one Jew , one Pole and one Tschango .
