The TSG Haßloch ( gymnastics and sports community Haßloch e.V. predecessor sports community Haßloch ) was founded in 1951 from various previous associations. TSG Haßloch became known primarily through the success of its handball players and weightlifters. In addition, TSG Haßloch produced several German champions in various disciplines.

Departments

Aikido

TSG Haßloch has been offering the sport of Aikido since 1995 . The first leaders were Klaus Günther and Willi Steinmüller. The Aikido department was initially affiliated with the bowling club, which was then changed to membership in the wrestling department. A few years later, Aikido was run as an independent department.

badminton

In 1986 the Badminton Department was founded by Birgit and Klaus Jochum. It became an integral part of TSG Haßloch and, thanks to its good youth work, produced players up to the Bundesliga. She was able to provide three teams that could advance to the Badminton Association class.

Weightlifting

TSG Haßloch's weightlifting department emerged from the Hassloch athletes' club in 1895 . During the time of Kaiser Wilhelm II , the heavy athletic sports wrestling and weightlifting were practiced in this club . In addition, however, other sports that are no longer popular today were practiced, such as stone throwing, tug-of-war or artistic strength sports. The first wrestling mat and the first disc or barbell were purchased in 1905 and 1906 .

The founding association experienced an eventful history in the period up to 1951, due to the influences of the Third Reich and the two world wars. In the period that followed, it was integrated into the gymnastics and sports community and managed there as an independent department from 1965, weightlifting experienced an upswing that led the team to the first division. Some Palatinate and German masters were produced.

In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, on the one hand, a rejuvenation of the squad could be observed and, on the other hand, the situation of weightlifters had improved considerably with the construction of the TSG sports center. On this basis it was possible, for example, to complete a World Cup test of the senior national team, all-German youth team championships, the Baltic Cup 1991 or the return visits to the Bruges Cup (a Swiss event).

Handball

In Handball TSG Haßloch can look back on a long and successful tradition; In the first decade after the end of the Second World War , the club in handball in southwest Germany was the measure of all things for men.

Field handball

In field handball , the then more popular variant of handball, Haßloch won the Southwest German Championship five times in a row from 1947 to 1951, and again in 1963 and 1975, a total of seven times when TSG qualified for participation in the final tournament for the German field handball championship.

The last regional field handball championship in 1975 was followed by the greatest sporting triumph of the Haßloch handball players: TSG is the only handball club in the Palatinate that can boast a German championship in men's handball: it was the last German field handball champion in the final round of the German field handball championship in 1975 . After the last field handball Bundesliga round was held in 1973, the German Handball Federation announced the last German field handball championship for 1975. Via the championship in the Regionalliga Südwest-Staffel Süd and the following Southwest Championship (final against the representative of the northern group, SV 1946 Crumstadt ), TSG reached the final round, where they narrowly beat the southern German title holder TSV Oftersheim . On August 10, 1975, the team from Haßloch met in the final at the Obernfelder Allee stadium in Lübbecke on the renowned TuS Nettelstedt with its top players Herbert Lübking (139 international games), Heiner Möller (95 international games) and Milan Lazarević (Olympic champion with Yugoslavia). With 15:14 the Haßloch defeated the big favorite on his own place and became Germany's last field handball champion.

Indoor handball

In indoor handball, which between 1950 and 1975 prevailed over field handball as the only handball sport, Haßloch was even more successful on a regional level at this early stage: TSG was Pfalzmeister 15 years in a row, between 1947 and 1961, and again in 1964 for 13 years subsequently Southwest German champions (1948–1960), and again in 1962. This meant qualifying for the final tournaments for the German championship: With 14 finals, TSG Haßloch is the most frequently qualified of all German handball clubs. The greatest success was the third place in the 1962 season .

The 1st men's team of TSG Haßloch plays in the 3rd League Season South . (As of 2017/18 season)

athletics

The athletics program has been one of the most important components of the club's operations since the Turn Verein Haßloch was founded in 1880 . These activities resulted, among other things, in Heinrich Flott's second place in the stone throwing discipline at the Gymnastics Festival in Hanover in 1925 .

In the decades after the Second World War until the 1990s, TSG Haßloch track and field athletes were able to win various Palatinate, Rhineland Palatinate, German and European championships.

The track and field athletes of TSG Haßloch succeeded in repeatedly waking up from their deep sleep in the era of the 1990s with the then new chairman Kurt Büttler. With him as a trainer, the lawn power sports group achieved a number of successes at the state and federal level in the throwing disciplines.

Current offers

The recent past has shown that the demand for sporting activities has changed compared to traditional offers. In the process, new interested parties appeared who did not come from the classic "sports club business" and who had different needs. This is why TSG Haßloch has been trying to address new addressees with a changing range of courses since 2008/2009:

  • Power boxing or dance aerobics
  • Spinal gymnastics with Pilates elements
  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Some of these offers take place in the morning hours - some with childcare, are limited in time to training units and can be used above all without a club membership.
