Saint-Maurice is a French commune with 14,056 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the south-east of Paris . It belongs to the Val-de-Marne department and is located in the Île-de-France region . The distance to the center of the capital is about seven kilometers.
history
Originally the municipality was called Charenton-Saint-Maurice. In 1842 the name was shortened to Saint-Maurice.
In 1929, the municipality lost half of its territory when the Vincennes forest was added to the city of Paris.

Community partnerships
- Since 1957, a partnership has linked the two towns of Saint-Maurice in the Swiss Wallis and in the Marne Valley .

economy
The film production company Gaumont maintains a film studio in the village, which is only one of four locations of the Franstudios. Were filmed here, among others, Once Upon a Time (1946) Diabolique (1955) and The Sicilian Clan (1969).
Personalities
- The painter Eugène Delacroix was born on April 26, 1798 in Charenton-Saint-Maurice.
