The Salisbury Island (Остров Солсбери; ostrow Solsberi) is an island of Archipelago Zichy country or Franz Josef Land in the Arctic Ocean . It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia . With an area of 960.0 km² it is the 40 largest island in Europe with a maximum height of 482 m.
Salisbury Island is separated from Ziegler Island and Wiener Neustadt Island by the narrow Rhodes Strait (проливом Родса; Proliw Rodsa). It was named after the American geologist Rollin D. Salisbury (1858-1922).
