Sammu ( Japanese 山 武 市 , - shi ) is a city in Chiba Prefecture in the east of Honshū , the main island of Japan .

The city is located east of Tokyo on the Bōsō Peninsula on the Pacific .

history

The natural disaster of the Tōhoku earthquake on March 11, 2011 with the subsequent tsunami claimed a death in Sammu. 43 residential buildings were completely destroyed and 442 others were partially destroyed.
