The district of Santiago de Tucuma is located in the province of Tayacaja in the Huancavelica region in south-west central Peru . The district was formed on May 29, 2016 from parts of the Pampas district. It has an area of ​​34 km². The 2017 census counted 1612 inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is the 3282  m village high altitude Santiago de Tucuma with 615 inhabitants (2017). Santiago de Tucuma is located 10 km north of the provincial capital Pampas .

Geographical location

The district of Santiago de Tucuma is located in the central Peruvian Cordillera in the province of Tayacaja. The Río Huanchuy limits the district to the north.

The Santiago de Tucuma district is bordered to the southwest and the west by the district Ahuaycha , in the northwest and the north by the district Huaripampa , on the east by the district Daniel Hernández and the southeast by the Pampas district.
