Saosjorsk ( Russian Заозёрск ) is a closed city in Russia in the Murmansk Oblast with 11,199 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). It is mainly inhabited by members of the Russian armed forces in connection with the submarine fleet of the nearby port of Sapadnaya Liza , the most important base of the Russian northern fleet .

Saozjorsk was founded in 1958 as the village of Zaorzerny (Заозерный) as a place of residence for members of the Soviet submarine fleet. During the Soviet era, the settlement was then further built as a closed city under the code names Severomorsk-7 (Североморск-7) or Murmansk-150 (Мурманск-150). The climate in the city is extremely inhospitable and characterized by long nights in polar winter and strong winds.
Saozjorsk is located a good 2 km from the Litsa River and 54 km north-northwest from the regional capital Murmansk . On motorways the distance is 150 kilometers. The majority of the population serve in the Russian armed forces or work in companies belonging to the Ministry of Defense .
