Sarah Lesch (born March 1, 1986 in Altenburg ) is a German songwriter who performs with guitar and ukulele .

life and career

Sarah Lesch was born in Altenburg, Thuringia , and moved to Swabia with her mother at the age of five . Her father Ralf Kruse is a Leipzig musician. He played with Amor & die Kids and the Original Erzgebirgs-Duo , among others . She has a half-sister and a half-brother on her father's side , whom she only met during her time as a singer.

Lesch wrote music for children's theater pieces and worked as an educator in Tübingen from 2009 to 2013 and has since worked mainly as a musician. She is mother of one son and lives in Leipzig.

Lesch's debut album with the title Songs from the dirty kitchen was released in 2012 under the alias "Chansonedde", was digitally distributed by Rummelplatzmusik in 2015 and also released on CD in 2016 in collaboration with the Kick The Flame label . In 2015 she released her second studio album, Von Musen und Sailors , at Rummelplatzmusik under her real name. In 2016, the Leipzig music company Kick The Flame signed her. Her third studio album Da Draussen was released there in 2017 ; In September 2019 an EP followed with Den Einsamen zum Troste on the label Räuberleiter GbR.

With the six-minute song Testament , which Lesch wrote for her son, she won the 2016 protest song contest in Vienna and took second place in the Panic Prize at the Hermann Hesse Festival in Calw . The song, which is supposed to prepare the child for an uncertain future, was then widely distributed on the Internet and was also distributed by right-wing populist websites and right-wing extremist groups. She clearly distanced herself from this appropriation. In her song Der Kapitän she sings about the rescue of 37 people from distress on the ship Cap Anamur by Stefan Schmidt , her former father-in-law.

Lesch has been performing regularly since 2013/2014, mainly on smaller stages. Among other things, she was seen at the Hamburg kitchen sessions or Ina's night and performed at the music festival Songs on a summer evening . On May 22, 2020, her fourth studio album, Der Einsamkeit zum Trotze, was released on Kick The Flame .
