State Chess League 1979/80

The 1979/80 season was the fifth season of the Austrian State Chess League . The defending champion SK Hietzing Wien had to be content with third place, while SK Merkur Graz achieved its first championship title. In the previous year, the ATUS Judenburg and the 1. SSK Mozart were promoted . While Judenburg achieved relegation, Salzburg had to relegate directly.

Qualification for the State League 1980/81

The SK St. Pölten was able to qualify for the following season. The venue, date and results of the qualifying tournament are also unknown, as are the other participating clubs.
