State Chess League A 1995/96

The 1995/96 season was the 21st season of the Austrian chess State League A . From the State League B were SK Hohenems and the ESV Austria Graz ascended.

Both newcomers achieved relegation, while SK VÖEST Linz and SK Austria Wien were relegated.

The SK Merkur Graz was two points ahead of the defending champions SC Margareten win the championship.

Dates and venues

The competitions took place on October 21 and 22, 1995 in Linz , from December 8 to 10, 1995 in Hohenems , from January 19 to 21, 1996 in Velden am Wörther See and from March 1 to 3, 1996 in Vienna .

Remarks:

  • The competition between SC Fischer Wien and SC Margareten ended 4: 2 for Margarethen Winterthur. Because of the commitment of three foreigners, however, 1.5 points were deducted, so that the competition was rated 3.5: 2.5 for SC Fischer Wien.
  • SK Fürstenfeld was placed ahead of the ASK / KSV Klagenfurt syndicate thanks to the win.

Qualifying tournament for the State League A 1996/97

The qualifying tournament for the State League A took place in Vienna from April 12th to 14th . The participants were the SC Pinggau Friedberg (winner of the State League B South), the SK Absam (winner of the State League B West) and with the SC Donaustadt and the SC Ottakring / Sandleiten the first two of the State League B East. Friedberg and Ottakring secured the first two places and were promoted to the State League A.
