State Chess League 1984/85

The 1984/85 season was the 10th season of the Austrian State Chess League .

At the top there was a head-to-head race between the defending champions SK VÖEST Linz and SK Merkur Graz , despite a defeat in a direct comparison, the Linzers were able to prevail with a half point advantage.

The newcomer SK Flötzersteig-Breitensee managed to stay in the league with a single point advantage over Union Styria Graz .

Qualifying tournament for the State League A 1985/86

The qualifying tournament for the State League A took place from May 25th to 27th in Salzburg . The participants were SC Inter Salzburg (winners of the western league), the chess club Villach (winners of the southern league), SC Traun 67 (winners of the eastern league) and SC Donaustadt as winners of the Landesliga Wien. SC Donaustadt won the tournament and was promoted.
