State Chess League 1985/86

The 1985/86 season was the 11th season of the Austrian State Chess League .

For a long time at the top it looked like a three-way battle between the defending champions SK VÖEST Linz , ASK Klagenfurt and SK Merkur Graz , in the end the Linzers were able to clearly distance their rivals.

In the previous year, the SC Donaustadt Vienna rose, which reached the league; However, the SK Flötzersteig-Breitensee had to descend .

Qualifying tournament for the State League A 1986/87

The qualifying tournament for the State League A took place from June 28th to 29th in Salzburg . The participants were ASK Salzburg (winners of the western league), SK Wolfsberg (winners of the southern league), SC Traun 67 (winners of the eastern league) and SK Währing (winners of the Vienna regional league). ASK Salzburg won the tournament just ahead of SC Traun 67 and thus rose.
