The Schanze Adolfseck is a small siege castle to the Adolfseck Castle in the Bad Schwalbacher district Adolfseck but on the Lindschieder district in the Rheingau-Taunus district in Hesse . The small Roman fort Adolfseck was found in the immediate vicinity to the east.
Geographical location
The Adolfseck ski jump is located about 650 m north of Adolfseck and 750 m northeast of Lindschied on the rocky western bank of the Aar above the Aartalbahn .
investment
The system itself is a rounded, half-open rectangle, one side of which is bounded by the mountain waste. The wall is about 2.5 m wide and about 0.5 m high. The trenches are around 2.5 m wide and 0.2 m deep. The side facing down the valley has a length of approx. 26 m. The ski jump overlays the Limeswall that used to run here .
history
The ski jump was probably built during the Thirty Years' War when Kurmainz destroyed Adolfseck. In this respect, the complex is to be regarded as a siege castle . Due to its location, the access from the left bank of the Aar to Adolfseck could be blocked off. In addition, the Adolfseck castle could be well shot from the position.
Monument protection
The area of the ramparts is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
