The ring wall Hallgarter Zange is a ring wall that is probably related to the Eberbach monastery . It is located in the Rheingau Mountains at an altitude of 525 meters on the eastern side summit of the Hallgarter Zange, about 600 meters from this and 500 meters north of the Hallgarten settlement on the Rebhang .

The wall itself consisted of a simple dry stone wall that can still be seen in places today. The area was not integrated favorably into the wall. The interior of the facility is currently densely covered with young coniferous forest and is therefore practically inaccessible.

The facility was mentioned in 1879 by Karl August von Cohausen . Further explorations or even excavations of the facility never took place. Based on the representation of the complex, Cohausen suspects that this is a refuge for the Eberbach monastery.

Monument protection

The castle stable of the ramparts is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
