The Castle Wall Rabenstein is the ruin of a castle in the village of Wall Rabenstein the Hessian community Hünstetten in Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis . It belonged to Nassau-Idstein .
history
Count Walram IV of Nassau-Idstein , son of Count Adolf I of Nassau-Idstein , built the castle around 1390. He died on November 7, 1393 at the age of 40, even before his son Adolf II of Nassau-Idstein built the castle finished the same year. Later he pledged it to Count Henne von Reifenberg.
From 1439 the castle was loaned and used as a retirement home. A cellar bill from 1549 proves that it was still inhabited and in good condition.
During the Thirty Years' War the castle was partially destroyed and made uninhabitable. The property has been privately owned since 1984.
investment
The ruins still shows the shield wall with a hexagonal tower and a round tower with top visible corbels . On the inside of the shield wall is a half-timbered extension that is now used as a storage shed .
The two-shell masonry , which is at risk of falling rocks and threatens to tip over, should be renovated by winter 2007. The cost of around 100,000 euros is shared by the district, the community, the preservation / protection of monuments and the owner.
