Hareschloß

The Hareschloß is a presumed tower castle from the high Middle Ages , which has since disappeared. There are only remains of soil near Zorn in the Hessian community of Heidenrod . It must not be confused with the Alte Schanz ring wall, around a kilometer away .

investment

The castle is located at the end of a ridge in the "Eichnert" forest district. The facility was separated from the ridge by a neck ditch . The access was probably given over or through the neck ditch. In the middle above the trench there is a hollow that presumably indicates a building location.

Experts assume that the castle was largely a wooden structure. Machined stones, which indicate masonry, are also found.

history

Nothing is known about the history or the owners of the facility. But it probably belonged to Nassau or Katzenelnbog followers.

Monument protection

The area of the facility is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
