action

Exciting and creative third grader Ramona Quimby often finds herself in trouble at school and at home, usually with boyfriend and neighbor Howie. Ramona and her sister Beatrice often quarrel. When her father Robert loses his job, the family is in great debt. That's why Ramona tries to find ways to make money. She tries to earn that by selling lemonade and car washes that backfire.

Meanwhile, Ramona's aunt Bea comes to visit the family and is one of the few people Ramona takes on in all her eccentricities . When Ramona and Beezus try to make dinner for their parents, the pan catches fire because Beezus is on the phone with Henry. As the sisters argue, Henry hears that Beezus loves him. After the argument, Ramona wants to feed her cat Picky-Picky, but instead finds her dead and devastated. The girls are holding a private memorial service for Picky-Picky and have become friendlier to each other. After Robert finds a job but has to move to Oregon with his family , Ramona's parents decide to sell their house. Ramona tries to help but accidentally starts a water fight with the neighbors. The fight ends when the neighbors' backyard is flooded to reveal a box that Hobart buried years ago and was always looking for. Hobart explains that the box contains memorabilia from her teenage relationship with Bea. He wants to propose to her. Reluctantly, Bea accepts the proposal and the family begins planning an impromptu wedding.

Robert receives a call from Ramona's teacher, Ms. Meachum. Ramona feels that she is undesirable and runs away; after her mother cannot change her mind, she helps pack her suitcase. Ramona comes to a bus stop with a heavy suitcase and opens the suitcase to see what her mother has put in it. She finds a book. Her family will find her and everyone is happy.

At Bea and Hobart's wedding, Ramona saves the day by finding the wedding rings Howie lost. Robert also thanks Ramona for getting a job offer from her school; Ms. Meachum recommended Robert to the school's board of directors as a new art teacher after seeing the mural he and Ramona made as a project for the class. Ramona is pleased with the news because they no longer have to move. Before Bea and Hobart start their honeymoon in Alaska , Ramona gives them a medallion with a picture of their school.
