Scott Francis McTominay (born December 8, 1996 in Lancaster , England ) is a Scottish football player . The midfielder is under contract with Manchester United . In 2018 he was called up to the Scottish national team.

Career

After visiting the Preston Development Center, McTominay moved to the Manchester United Academy at the age of five. In youth, McTominay started as a striker and became a midfielder under Warren Joyce . He signed his first professional contract in July 2013. On April 30, 2017, McTominay was on the bench for the first time in a Premier League game against Swansea City . He made his debut as a substitute against Arsenal on May 7, 2017 , before starting the last league game of the season against Crystal Palace on May 21 .

National team

In March 2018, McTominay, whose father is of Scottish descent, was appointed to the squad for the Scottish senior team. The new national coach Alex McLeish nominated him for the internationals against Costa Rica and Hungary . In the game against Costa Rica on March 23, 2018, McTominay made his national team debut.
