Career
Sergei Frenkel first played with the Haifa Hawks , for which he took part in the championship operation of the Israeli ice hockey league. In 2002 he moved to Canada in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League, where he played for the Thornhill Rattlers, the Mississauga Chargers and the Vaughan Vipers. In 2005 Frenkel moved to the Ryerson Rams, the ice hockey team at Ryerson University in Toronto , where he was studying at the time, and played with them for the Canadian University Championship . In 2008 he returned to Israel and has since played for HC Bat Yam . With the team from the Mediterranean coast, he was Israeli runner- up in 2010 and 2012 . In 2015 he ended his career.
International
Frenkel took part in the U18 Junior World Championships of Division III 2001 with the Israeli youngsters . In the same year he made his debut at the Division II World Championship in the men's national team . Also in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 he played in Division II for his home country. After relegation in 2004 was only achieved due to the better goal difference compared to relegated Luxembourg , the Israelis - also due to Frenkel's nine assists - succeeded in 2005 the surprising and first promotion to Division I. There, however, Frenkel and his teammates were overwhelmed in 2006 and rose without Point gain and with 3:47 goals immediately off again. So Frenkel played in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , when he was named the best player on his team, and again in Division II in 2010 , before he was relegated to Division III. Thanks to Frenkel's eleven goals and assists, he was the second-best scorer behind his compatriot Eliezer Sherbatov (together with Daniel Mazour ), preparer and scorer of the tournament, but at the 2011 World Cup , the team immediately rose back to Division II, in the he was also on the ice for his colors in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2019 .
