Siegfried is a film by Sven Unterwaldt released in 2005 . He is a satire on the German Nibelungen saga (see also: Siegfried the Dragon Slayer ).

action

The child Siegfried is placed in a basket and swims across the Rhine in it until the blacksmith Mime finds him and takes him in. A few years later, however, the entire people would like to get rid of Siegfried, because due to his strength, mishaps often happen , which mostly the villagers suffer from.

As Siegfried is walking through the forest one day, he sees a young girl named Kriemhild, with whom he immediately falls in love. However, she doesn't like him at all because he is poor and she comes from a royal family. His people finally persuade him to go to the castle to find them there. When Siegfried arrives at the castle, he is not allowed in. When trying to get inside, the muscle man damages the gate of the castle. To pay off the damage, he now has to peel potatoes in the kitchen. Even with this work he only thinks of Kriemhild and hopes to see her soon. When he happens to come to the tournament area of the castle, he has to fight against Hagen , who has just defeated the last participant of the tournament there and is therefore expecting Kriemhild's hand. But Siegfried defeats Hagen, and Gunther , Kriemhild's brother, promises the new winner his sister's hand. However, she is not enthusiastic about the decision, so Gunter makes it a condition that Siegfried procures wedding rings from Rheingold .

In his search for this legendary treasure, Alberich , one of Hagen's henchmen, tries to murder Siegfried. Due to luck, several attempts fail, so that after a short odyssey the hero returns with the rings from the treasure guarded by a dragon . In his luggage is also a dragon egg that he found in the cave.

Kriemhild is once again not enthusiastic, but speculates on the rest of the huge gold treasure. She cannot imagine that someone could be so stupid and take the rings with them and leave the rest behind.

But that's exactly what comes out in good time before the wedding, so that Siegfried realizes that Kriemhild is not the nice, desirable princess, but a gold-greedy and devious fury . At the end she is "grilled" by the dragon, who wants his egg back, and Siegfried takes the kitchen assistant Anita as his wife.

Reviews

“The humor of this alleged parody is somewhere between tasteless and stupid. The motto 'faeces is fun' unfortunately only works with children up to a maximum of twelve years of age, and even painful slapstick is more likely to please younger cinema audiences. For children the humor is just okay, for adults there isn't much to laugh about. "

“The Nibelungen saga from the perspective of the proletarian comedian Tom Gerhardt, who has long since exceeded his potential and his zenith. Directed by the non-expert Sven Unterwaldt (" 7 dwarfs - men alone in the forest "), an anti-film was made that is neither funny nor impressive. The gags - mostly crazy anachronisms and sayings from the fecal pot - are underground stupid and maximum for an audience whose IQ is even surpassed by a chickpea. German cinema to get used to! "

"Long-winded farce produced with little effort, staged in an uninspired manner and, above all, a nuisance due to the overwhelmed leading actor."

"The overall result is so lousy that you only have one wish: may all copies of this film be sunk in the deepest part of the Rhine."

"Every joke like a punch in the stomach."
