Siegfried Maser
Siegfried Maser (born November 30, 1938 in Stuttgart ; † March 10, 2016 ) was a German philosopher , mathematician and physicist .
Life
Siegfried Maser spent his school days between 1945 and 1958 in Korntal near Stuttgart. In 1958 he began studying philosophy, mathematics and physics in Stuttgart and Tübingen . In 1965 he did his doctorate with Max Bense at the Institute for Philosophy and Economic Theory of the Technical University of Stuttgart on Gottlob Frege , whereupon he worked as a research assistant at Bense until 1969 . Maser completed his habilitation in Stuttgart with a thesis on numerical aesthetics . He received the Venia legendi for logic and logistics with a special focus on communication research .
In 1969 he worked as a university lecturer in Stuttgart and between 1969 and 1971 as a lecturer for general communication theory at the Institute for Environmental Planning at the former Ulm School of Design . Between 1971 and 1978 he was professor for systems research and planning theory in the experimental environmental design department at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig , where he was rector from 1976 to 1978.
From 1978 he was professor for design theory at the Bergische Universität in Wuppertal . In 1983 Maser was elected to the rectorate of Josef M. Häußling as vice-rector for studies and teaching and in 1987 he was rector of the Bergische Universität until 1991. From 1993 to 2003 he was chairman of the examination board. In 2004 Maser retired.
Maser got involved in Egypt , in the Slovakian partner university in Košice and in his adopted hometown Wuppertal, here especially for the sponsorship with Liegnitz . Maser has been head of the Wuppertaler Freundeskreis Liegnitz eV since 1994. In this role, he promoted the friendly dialogue between the two cities and made great contributions to German-Polish understanding. The aid program for sick Polish children was also implemented under Maser's leadership. This program helps Liegnitz children who are seriously ill from inhaling unfiltered heavy metal vapors from the Liegnitz copper smelter .
honors and awards
Maser received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Košice in 1991 . On September 14, 2005 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . At the end of 2009 he received the Order of Smile for his services to children in Wuppertal's twin town Legnica . He is also the holder of the Wuppertal Order of Tolerance . In 2013 he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for his services to German-Polish relations .
