The Siegfried Weishaupt collection is one of the most important in Baden-Württemberg , along with the collections of Frieder Burda , Reinhold Würth , Friedrich E. Rentschler ( FER ), Josef Froehlich , Peter Schaufler and the Grässlin family . Initially only a few works from it were shown publicly, then a large part in the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe, which opened at the end of 1999 . The Weishaupt Collection contains important works of modern art from the 1950s and 1960s, e. B. by Roy Lichtenstein , Andy Warhol (who incidentally also portrayed company founder Max Weishaupt), Willem de Kooning , Keith Haring and Karl Gerstner . A focus is on several major works of international color field painting from the 1960s, including by Mark Rothko , Ad Reinhardt , Frank Stella , Agnes Martin , Morris Louis and Kenneth Noland . It also includes numerous works by the Düsseldorf artist group ZERO , including works by the founder Heinz Mack and Otto Piene , Günther Uecker , Pol Bury , as well as works by artists who influenced this group, such as Lucio Fontana , Piero Manzoni and Enrico Castellani . Another focus is on pictures by the hard edge artist Josef Albers . There are also examples of the work of Imi Knoebel and Günther Förg , as well as François Morellet , Maurizio Nannucci and Keith Sonnier .

From 2005 until the opening on November 24, 2007, a private art museum (“ Kunsthalle Weishaupt ”) was built in the city center of Ulm for 8.5 million euros in order to make the Weishaupt collection accessible to the public. Weishaupt awarded the contract to design the art gallery directly to the architecture office of Wolfram Wöhr , Munich, who is a student of Richard Meier. The overall urban development project Neue Mitte Ulm , the culmination of which is the Kunsthalle Weishaupt, was one of the winners of the German Urban Development Award 2006 (“Award” category). The design of the building, which is located in the vicinity of the minster , the town hall and the Ulm municipal museum , is controversial in parts of the public.

Siegfried Weishaupt's brother and his wife, the Munich-based architect couple Maximilian and Agathe Weishaupt, are also collectors of modern art; see Maximilian and Agathe Weishaupt collection .

Several buildings in the public space of the village of Schwendi were entirely financed or supported by the entrepreneurial family Siegfried Weishaupt. Siegfried Weishaupt is one of the founding sponsors of the private Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, he holds 10% of the capital of the sponsoring company. He was also the managing director of the now defunct ISGM International School of General Management .
