action

14-year-old Will Stronghold is the son of Commander and Jetstream - the most famous superheroes in the world. Nobody knows that Will himself doesn't have superpowers. That's why he's accepted at Sky High, a flying high school for superheroes. There every student is trained to be either a hero or a hero helper - also known as a loser - according to his or her abilities. Like his friends, Will is placed in the heroic helper class, but initially feels very comfortable there, even if he doesn't dare to tell his parents. It was only during a fight with his classmate Warren Peace that Will developed super strength like his father and entered the hero class. There the pretty Gwen Grayson noticed him and after a short time invited him to the ball as her companion.

Will's parents, especially his father, are now very proud of him because of his power and his beautiful new girlfriend, but Will forgets his old friends. Layla in particular is very upset about this. When he transfers her about Gwen, she gets to know Warren better and decides to make Will jealous of him.

Meanwhile, Gwen arranges for Will to throw a party at his house that his friends are not invited to. She takes the chance to steal a weapon from the secret headquarters of Will's parents that once belonged to the villain Royal Pain. When Layla shows up at the party and Will sees how bad she is being treated by Gwen, he breaks up with her and decides not to go to the ball with her anymore.

At the ball to which Will's parents are invited, Gwen turns out to be Royal Pain. Your weapon has the power to turn people into babies. The same thing happened to her during the fight with the Commander. Now she seeks revenge and transforms all present teachers and students into babies. The school wants to let them crash. Will has now realized that Gwen has stolen the gun and flies to school with the help of bus driver Ron Willson. The only ones who are still against Royal Pain and her helpers are Will's friends from the hero's helper class. They manage to defeat Gwen's friends and prevent the school from crashing. Will faces Royal Pain and during the fight discovers that he can fly like his mother.

The “losers” save the school, everyone can be transformed back. Will befriends his former enemy Warren and hooks up with Layla.

Remarkable

  • At the end of the film, Director Powers ( Lynda Carter ) says she is not Wonder Woman . It was with this role that Carter became famous in the 1970s.
  • During one hour, Mr. Boy writes “Grammar for Heldenhelfer” on the blackboard with the cloze “Holy ___, ___man”. This is a tribute to the old Batman series , in which Robin (Batman's helper hero) often used phrases like: "Holy XY, Batman" (Holy XY, Batman).

criticism

"The less innovative film declines the standards of the genre and at most surprises with the satirical radicalism with which it exposes the two-class system of American high schools."

"At the end a bit too moralizing, the well-tricked Disney film is still brimming with ideas."

- TV feature film

"Candy-colored, but irrelevant entertainment that badly copies ideas from" The Incredibles "and similar films."
