Sokolica (German Zaughals ) is a village in the rural municipality of Nowa Ruda in Poland . It is located three kilometers northwest of Nowa Ruda ( Neurode ) and belongs to the powiat Kłodzki .
geography
Geographically, Sokolica belongs to the Kłodzko Basin and lies on the border with the Czech Republic , which runs to the west. Neighboring towns are Borek ( Hain ) and Ludwikowice Kłodzkie in the north, Drogosław in the northeast, Grządka ( Grund ) and Włodowice in the south, Rybno ( Fischerberg ) and Krajanówek ( Klein Krainsdorf ) in the southwest and Krajanów in the northwest. To the northeast rises the 757 m high Góra Włodzicka ( Königswalder Spitzberg ).
history
Zaughals was first mentioned in 1571 with a «Heegerei Zaughals» and in 1577 with a «Wald Zaughals». It belonged to the Neuroder district in the county of Glatz , which belonged directly to Bohemia . With her it fell to Prussia after the Peace of Hubertusburg in 1763 . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 , which was divided into districts. The district of Glatz was responsible from 1816–1853, and the district of Neurode from 1854–1932 . After its dissolution in 1933, it again belonged to the district of Glatz, with which it remained connected until 1945. Since 1874 the rural community Zaughals belonged together with the rural communities Krainsdorf and Walditz as well as the manor districts Krainsdorf, Nieder Walditz, Ober Walditz and Zaughals to the administrative district Krainsdorf, which was later renamed the administrative district Walditz . From the 19th century it gained importance as a summer resort. In 1939 it consisted of 250 inhabitants.
As a result of the Second World War , Zaughals and most of Silesia fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Sokolica . The German population was largely expelled unless they had already fled. Since many of the houses remained uninhabited after 1945 due to their remote location, the number of residents decreased significantly. 1975-1998 Sokolica belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ).
