Attractions

Witch pond
  • Hexenweiher : Below the village of Spreitgen there are two ponds (ponds). Whether or not so-called “witch trials” were carried out here in the upheaval of the early modern times, as assumed, has not been historically proven (the witches were “washed up”, that is, they were thrown into a pond with their hands and feet tied up. They perished (They were considered innocent. But mostly it was said: “They swam well.” But then their fate was sealed.) After all, witch trials took place at Homburg Castle . For example, on September 14, 1631, six women from the Oberkirchspiel were executed on such a charge (by the way, they were pardoned to the sharpness of the sword, since they had stood up voluntarily - and beyond the indictment).
