The place is located as the crow flies about 2.35 km southeast of the center of Nümbrecht.
history
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1396 in the " feud letter of Lambert, Dederich and Goyde van Hoymel and others with the city of Cologne". The spelling of the first mention was Hoymel .
In the immediate vicinity of Hömel (r 95 000, h 50 420), a pinge was dug for ( Central Devonian ) limestone in the past centuries . This is now, as is unfortunately often the case, used as a wild garbage dump (Grabert 1970).
