The Spyker F8-VII was a Formula 1 racing cars, the Spyker F1 2007 in 1 Formula started World Championship.
Development history and technology
The Spyker F8-VII was a further development of the Midland M16 that Midland F1 Racing had reported before the team was sold to Spyker in the 2006 Formula 1 season . The design was revised by Mike Gascoyne ; the aerodynamics have been optimized, the rear has been adapted to a new gearbox.
At the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix , the team announced that an engine contract had been signed with Ferrari for the 2007 Formula 1 season and that the contract with driver Christijan Albers had been extended. In addition to Scuderia Toro Rosso , Spyker received the 2.4-liter V8 engine with the type designation 056 for their Toro Rosso STR2 .
In addition to Albers, Adrian Sutil , who was already on board as a test driver for MF1 Racing, was hired. As the only other driver from Midland, the second German Markus Winkelhock was signed on. In addition to Winkelhock, Fairuz Fauzy , Adrián Vallés and Giedo van der Garde were also signed as test drivers.
Racing history
Spyker had the lowest budget of all Formula 1 teams in 2007, but the team managed to develop the vehicle further during the year. After making their debut at the Australian Grand Prix, however, the team had to wait until the third last race of the year, the Japanese Grand Prix , before they could score the first and only championship point of the year through Adrian Sutil.
With this eighth place, Spyker placed tenth in the constructors' championship at the end of the season.
