The Panther Kallista was a roadster that Panther Car Company Ltd. in Byfleet , County Surrey in the south east of England , from 1983 to 1990. Around 1750 vehicles of this type were built. The designer was Robert Jankel .
In 1992, SsangYong Motor Company released a badge-engineering version of the Kallista under the name SsangYong Kallista ; 73 of these vehicles were produced.

Various Ford engines were available to drive the Kallista:
- 4-cylinder in-line engine, 1597 cm³, 71 kW (96 PS) at 6000 rpm, with double carburetors
- 6-cylinder V-engine, 2792 cm³, 99 kW (135 PS) at 5200 rpm, with double carburetors
- 6-cylinder V-engine, 2792 cm³, 110 kW (150 PS) at 5700 rpm, with petrol injection
- 6-cylinder V-engine, 2935 cm³, 110 kW (150 PS) at 5700 rpm, with petrol injection
The car had a manual five-speed gearbox and cardan drive on the rear wheels. An automatic transmission was available on request in conjunction with the 6-cylinder engines. The top speed of the most powerful variants was around 195 km / h, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds.
Chassis and body
The chassis consisted of a box frame , a front suspension on triangular wishbones with coil springs and a stabilizer, as well as a rigid axle with a Panhard rod at the rear on upper and lower longitudinal links . There were also telescopic shock absorbers and disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear with brake booster. The body was a structure made of light metal, the parts of which were imported from Korea for assembly at Panther.
