Stéphane Maeder

Stéphane Maeder (born March 26, 1961 in Lausanne , Canton of Vaud ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Training and career start

Maeder first completed 1977 to 1980 training as a photographer at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich . From 1982 to 1985 he then studied acting at the Zurich Acting Academy . He completed his training in 1985 with a diploma. In 1985 he received the Emil Oprecht Prize for the best diploma audition in drama.

He had his first theater engagement at the Theater an der Winkelwiese in Zurich. From 1985 to 1987 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz ; there he played, among other things, the young man Vassili in Botho Strauss ' The Tourist Guide (director: Luc Bondy ). He also took on the roles of stoker / policeman / unionist / monkey in Peter Stein's production of Eugene O'Neill's play The Hairy Monkey .

Fixed engagements

From 1987 to 1991 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . Here he played the title role in Don Carlos (director: Christoph Babizcki ), Horatio in Hamlet , Peider in Andorra (director: Uwe Eric Laufenberg ) and Gernot in Germania Tod in Berlin by Heiner Müller (director: Johann Kresnik ). In the 1991/92 season he had a guest contract at the Schauspielhaus Cologne ; there he played Karl in Ödön von Horváth's play Zur Schöne Aussicht .

From the 1992 / 93–1996 season he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Mainz State Theater . There he appeared as Andrej Sergejewitsch Prosorow in Drei Schwestern (director: Anna Badora) and as Stanley Kowalski in Endstation Sehnsucht (director: Anton Uidenhag). From 1996 to 1999 a permanent engagement at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf followed , with roles such as the servant Waitwell in Miss Sara Sampson and the shepherd Kuoni in Wilhelm Tell , the latter under the direction of Franz Xaver Kroetz .

From the 1999/00 season to 2012 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin . There he played the roles of Hauptmann von Schlettow / Gebweiler / Comenius / Stadtkämmerer / Passkommissar in Carl Zuckmayer's play Der Hauptmann von Köpenick (director: Peter Dehler), village judge Adam in Der zerbrochne Krug (director: Michael Funke), the title role in Tartuffe (Director: Andrea Moses), the title role in Dantons Tod (Director: Michael Funke), Prospero in Der Sturm (Director: Marc von Henning), father Julius Wolff in Der Biberpelz (2011; Director: Herbert Fritsch) and Theseus, Herzog von Athens in A Midsummer Night's Dream (2011; Director: Peter Dehler).

Since 2012 he has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Konzert Theater Bern . His engagement took place through the Bernese acting director Iris Laufenberg ; she had seen Maeder at the 2011 Berlin Theatertreffen as Wolff's father in the Schwerin beaver fur production. In his first season at Theater Bern he played the title role in Bluebeard by Max Frisch (season 2012/13; director: Michael Simon). At the opening of the 2013/14 season he took on the title role in King Lear, directed by Lisa Nielebock .

Other roles at the Konzert Theater Bern were the title role in Biedermann und die Brandstifter (2014/15 season; director: Claudia Mayer), Agamemnon in a stage version of the Iliad in the translation by Raoul Schrott (2014/15 season, director: Volker Hesse ) and the hunter in Der Weibsteufel (2014/15 season; director: Claudia Mayer).

In June 2015 Maeder played Malvolio in a new production of the Shakespeare comedy What you want at the Konzert Theater Bern .

Movie and TV

Maeder also took on roles in film and television on occasion. In the course of his career, however, the focus of his artistic activity as an actor has always been the theater.

In the Polizeiruf-110 episode Dumm wie Brot (first broadcast: May 2004), he played the owner of the shipping company Schnecke und Partner . In the ZDF crime series Bella Block he had a small role in the crime film The Carpet Layer's wife (2005); he was the landlord Beck. In the Swiss television film Schöne Wochen (2006) he played the main male role, the husband and father of the family Alois.

In 2009, he had an episode role as the boat neighbor Petersen in the ZDF children's series Löwenzahn . In the TV comedy Marrying Isn't a Solution (2012) he played the sales representative Paul, the lodger and long-time lover of the teacher Carla ( Katja Flint ).

Private

Maeder has lived in Bern with his daughter since 2012 . He has other places of residence in Berlin and Zurich. He is also the father of an adult son.
