The Gmina Suchy Dąb is a rural community in the powiat Gdański in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It has an area of 85 km², on which 4215 people live (June 30, 2019). Its seat is the village of the same name ( German Zugdam , Kashubian Sëchi Dãb ).
geography
The rural community is located in Pomerania in the Żuławy Wiślane (Vistula-Nogat Delta) and in the south of the city of Gdansk . The place Steblewo (Stüblau) gave the Stüblauer Werder its name. The Vistula forms the eastern border of the municipality, which is crossed from south to north by the Motława River . 85 percent of the area is used for agriculture, there is no forest.
history
The Teutonic Order Castle in Herrengrebin was built between 1404–1406. The place is named after the owners of the Teutonic Order , Mönchengrebin, on the other hand, was monastic property. With the First Partition of Poland , the municipality became part of the Kingdom of Prussia and the Province of West Prussia in 1772 . Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the area fell to the Free City of Danzig after the First World War in 1920 .
In the wake of World War II , West Prussia came to Poland . The local population was displaced.
From 1975 to 1998 the rural community was part of the Gdansk Voivodeship .

Osterwicker Bruch was a former residential area of Osterwick in the Danziger Niederung district. It belongs to Ostrowite today.

- The 700-year-old oak from Zugdam is a natural monument , it was included in the coat of arms of the place and gave the place the current name dry oak .
