St. Georg is a church named after St. George belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Immeldorf ( Dean's Office Windsbach ).

Church building

Building history

Probably in the 13./14. In the 17th century a Gothic choir tower church was built to replace a wooden church. In 1506 the tower was raised. Today's hall with a mansard hipped roof and its furnishings were created in 1747 in the Baroque style; from the previous church only the choir tower and the western gable end remained. Extensive renovations took place in 1952, in the 1980s and in 2002/03.

Parish fair is celebrated on the Sunday before the Exaltation of the Cross (in September).

Furnishing

Altar and pulpit from 1748/49 are made of gray-red-marbled, partly gilded wood; the altar contains a picture by Georg Christian Urlaub , on which Jesus on the cross and below Mary and the disciple John are depicted. The baptismal font from 1748 consists of an octagonal stone and a lid from 1854, on which a group of figures shows the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. A wooden chandelier with oil gilding hangs above the baptismal font. The figure group of St. George slaying a dragon with a king's daughter (around 1500) comes from the previous church, where it was also attached above the choir arch. The war memorial with Jesus as risen above his grave and two guards was painted in 1948 by a painter named Platzek; in its place there was until then a rule chorus. A donor cross from 2011 made of 100 oak blocks shows the names of the first donors of at least 500 euros for the parish. Two lecture crosses are probably the work of the Ansbach sculptor and gilder Franz Herterich (1803–1877); another lecture cross is modern. In 1748 the coat of arms of the Reich and the coat of arms of Nuremberg as the manorial power of Immeldorf were painted over the choir arch. Above the pulpit entrance hangs the Imhoff 's and spoonwood ' s double coat of arms; it was originally attached to the altar, where since 1854 the Lamb of God has been depicted on the book with the seven seals . The double galleries date from 1748; the organ on the upper west gallery is a work of the company Koch from Feuchtwangen from 1984 in the restored prospectus from 1748.

Parish

Originally, St. Georg was a branch of the parish of St. Alban (Saxony near Ansbach) . With the introduction of the Reformation in 1527, Immeldorf became Evangelical-Lutheran, and the congregation became independent two years before the Reformation. Until 1810 the parish belonged to the deanery Leutershausen . With the establishment of the Windsbach deanery in 1810, it was assigned to it.

The parish district includes the places Bachmühle (from 1812, previously: St. Peter Petersaurach), Büschelbach , Erlenmühle , Fischbach , Gotzendorf , Gotzenmühle , Hammerschmiede , Immeldorf , Kirschendorf , Malmersdorf , Rückersdorf , Schlauersbach (four properties were after St .
