history

The place had a chapel early on . The construction of the small church falls at the latest in the first half of the 13th century, as can be assumed from a walled-up window in the east that is still visible from the outside; but it was not mentioned until 1402. In 1559 and 1676 the church burned down. A cartouche above the portal says 1677 as the year of the new construction.

description

The nave of today's hall church , built on a rectangular floor plan , still shows Gothic influence. It is covered with a slate gable roof. The retracted choir tower on a square floor plan has an eight-sided attachment that houses the tower clock . On it sits a hood in which the bell cage is located with two church bells cast in Apolda . The bronze bell is from 1919, the cast steel from 1954. On the hood there is an open lantern , which is crowned with a tower ball .

The interior has two-storey galleries and is spanned by a wooden beam ceiling with inserted transom boards in a herringbone pattern . The choir is covered with a wooden, painted barrel vault. The triumphal arch that separates it from the nave is made of wood , just like the warriors . The pulpit altar dates from the 18th century. On the pulpit there are pictures framed with garlands , showing Moses , John the Baptist and Jesus Christ . Above the altar table is a relief with the Lord's Supper , which was taken from a late Gothic altarpiece . The baptismal font is early classical. There is a crucifix from the 18th century at the entrance to the pulpit . The organ with 7 registers , distributed over a manual and pedal , was built in 1818 by Georg Christoph Hofmann from Neustadt an der Haide.
