St. Martin (Mallertshofen)
The Sankt Martin church in Mallertshofen , a deserted area in the area of the municipality of Oberschleißheim in the Upper Bavarian district of Munich , is a late Romanesque hall building from the first half of the 13th century. The lonely church in the Mallertshofer Holz nature reserve , consecrated to St. Martin of Tours , is a branch church of the Catholic parish church of St. Korbinian in Lohhof and is used as a memorial to warriors . It is surrounded by the former cemetery, on which some wrought iron grave crosses from the 19th century have been preserved. The Martinskirche is one of the protected architectural monuments in Bavaria.
history
Mallertshofen is first mentioned in a document as Schwaige in 1060 . In the Freising traditions the place is mentioned as property of the Benedictine Abbey Weihenstephan . In the year 1190 there was already an independent parish and for the year 1315 several branch churches such as in Garching , Freimann and Unterschleißheim are attested. From 1628 the place was owned by Elector Maximilian I. Around 1630 the church was redesigned, the walls increased and new vaults built. In the north, the sacristy was added to the choir . After the Thirty Years War , the population emigrated. In the 17th century only two courtyards were left, which were demolished in 1879/80.
architecture
The Martinskirche is a plastered building made of tuff ashlars and bricks , the outer walls of which are decorated on the north and east side by glare fields with arched friezes and tooth cuts . The with a gable roof covered ship is a wooden roof turret crowned with spire. The interior consists of a single nave and a retracted, rectangular closed choir. The choir and nave are covered by groin vaults.
Furnishing
From the former high altar from the early 16th century, the figures of Our Lady, St. Martin and St. Willibrord have been preserved, as well as an altar wing with St. Wolfgang of Regensburg on the front and St. Nicholas of Myra on the back . Today you are in the parish church of St. Korbinian in Lohhof. The two wall paintings depicting Our Lady and Saint Martin are from 1998.
