St. Martin

The Catholic parish church of St. Martin is in Kirchworbis , a town on the eichsfeld-wipperaue in Thuringia Eichsfeld . The parish Kirchworbis part of the deanery Leinefelde-Worbis in the Diocese of Erfurt .

history

In the book of the Martinus Foundation from 1675 on their jurisdictions it is mentioned that the provost of the Martinus Foundation in Heiligenstadt holds the church patronage over the parish church of St. Martin in Kirchworbis. That of a built in 1300 Gothic pilaster church remained the steeple get to the west of the present church. In 1617 it was given a double-curved hood with a lantern on it. The neo-Romanesque nave was added in 1861–63; T. while retaining the old masonry of the previous building. In the east, a neo-baroque extension was built in 1913/14 by Hans Havemeister . Building description

The high altar , created around 1913, contains parts of the former baroque altar, including statues that were created around 1735. Other parts were used for the two side altars. A carved figure of St. Valentine from the middle of the 15th century stands on the triumphal arch. Another figure from the middle of the 18th century is St. Elisabeth . The colored windows in the nave were installed in 1862. The ceiling painting , a multi-figure representation of saints, was created by Augustin and Ferdinand Kolb in 1937. The organ with 26 registers , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal , was built by the Krell brothers around 1925 .
