description

From the former walled church from the first half of the 18th century, the church tower in the west with the dome , the open lantern on which a double dome sits, and the five-sided former choir in the east have been preserved. From 1933 to 1939 the church was extended at right angles to the south with an annex , which ends with a three-sided choir. A sacristy was also added. In the 1970s the church was enlarged again.

The interior has a flat ceiling . A yoke in the east of the former church has a ribbed vault , the choir polygon has a half dome with stitch caps , attached vault ribs and wide belts. The tower is vaulted on two floors and opened to the nave through basket arches . Most of the former church furnishings were removed around 1970. The high altar in the east from 1722/23 has an altar retable with a painting of the crucifixion , which Norbert Krohmer painted in 1925. On the side there are carved figures of the apostles Peter and Paul , each flanked by two twisted columns . The altarpiece consists of a painted Annunciation between sculptures of John the Baptist and Jacob the Elder . The baptismal font was created around 1500. The Stations of the Cross was painted by Franz Krombach in 1884 . The glass painting in the extension from the 1930s was created by the Coburg art glass factory Bringmann und Schmidt. On the east outer wall there are epitaphs from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The organ with 21 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built in the 19th century by an unknown organ builder and rebuilt by Wiegand Helferbein in 1960. Renovations were carried out in 1957 and 1993.
