The Evangelical Church of St. Petrus is in Felchta , a district of the Thuringian district town of Mühlhausen in the Unstrut-Hainich district .

description

The parish church is essentially a Gothic village church built around 1400 from quarry stones with a choir tower in the east. The first reconstruction of the church is dated in 1576, an extension to the west and the installation of a gallery for 1692.

The Gothic church tower was probably built in place of a Romanesque predecessor. A beehive bell from the 13th century hangs in his belfry . In 1746, the tower received an increase in Corinthian pilasters , which were crowned with a French dome . Further alterations were made in 1838, 1965–68 and 1993 when the tower was renovated .

In 1995 a vestibule with a staircase was added . In 1997 the interior and exterior renovation followed. In 2006 the tower was repainted, in 2008 the tower clock was renewed. Most recently, the south, north and east facades were restored in 2014 and 2015.

The organ with a manual , a pedal and 8 registers is on the gallery . It is considered to be of cultural and historical value and dates from 1837 from the organ builder workshop of Johann Friedrich Schulze . It was repaired in 2015 in the workshop for organ building Karl Brode in Heiligenstadt.

The nave has a wooden beam ceiling with two longitudinal beams . The choir is 3 steps higher than the nave and has a flat ceiling . It is separated from the nave by a pointed arched choir arch .

The baroque altar with a carved representation of the coronation of Mary comes from a former winged altar from the 16th century. It is framed by carved tendrils .

The pulpit with a column base was built in 1686, as was the sound cover .

The baptismal font is a work from the 16th century.

Gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries lie in the churchyard.
