Starla Joy Wood Brodie ( April 22, 1955 - April 8, 2014 ) was a professional American poker player . She won two bracelets in the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

From 1978 Brodie took part in renowned live tournaments .

In May 1978 Brodie was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and took second place in the Ladies Championship played in the Seven Card Stud variant , which was paid for around 5,000 US dollars . The following year, she and Doyle Brunson won the Mixed Doubles at the WSOP 1979 , for which the two each received a bracelet and prize money totaling $ 9,000. At the 1995 WSOP , Brodie won the Ladies Championship and secured her second bracelet and a prize of more than $ 35,000. She won her last live cash prize at the 2001 WSOP .

In total, Brodie has earned more than $ 50,000 playing poker in live tournaments.
