Jessica Lea Dawley (born February 2, 1983 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is a professional American poker player .

Personal

Dawley comes from Palmyra , Indiana, USA . After graduating from high school , she followed the example of her ten year older brother Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Dawley and joined the Air National Guard of the United States Air Force in April 2001 , of which she was a member until 2007. After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , Jessica Dawley was sent to the United Arab Emirates . She later studied marketing and management at the University of Louisville in Kentucky . Dawley lived in Las Vegas from 2008 to 2010 and has lived in Hollywood , Florida ever since .

Poker career

Dawley learned the game of poker from her uncle at the age of seven. She belonged to the team of the online poker platform 888poker under the nickname Jessica888 . Dawley has been participating in prestigious live tournaments since 2007 and has been playing professionally since 2008.

At the beginning of June 2008 , Dawley was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in a tournament of the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the end of January 2010, she finished 17th at the main event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne and received prize money of 75,000 Australian dollars . In September 2015 Dawley was at a tournament at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City Fifth for nearly 100,000 US dollars . Two months later, she also made the final table at an event at the Rock 'N' Roll Poker Open in Hollywood , Florida , finishing in sixth place for around $ 110,000 in prize money. At the 2018 WSOP , Dawley won the Ladies Championship and secured a bracelet and a prize money of more than 130,000 dollars in addition to the title of poker world champion . In mid-August 2019 she prevailed at a tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood and received her highest prize money to date of more than 200,000 dollars.

In total, Dawley has made more than a million dollars playing poker in live tournaments.
