Stefan Hartmann (theologian)

Stefan Hartmann (born August 19, 1954 in Oberhausen - Sterkrade ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and writer.

Life

Hartmann attended the Benedictine College in Sarnen , Canton Obwalden, the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Oberhausen-Sterkrade and the Leibniz School in Hanover . As an AFS exchange student, he obtained the High School Diploma in Marshall , Minnesota in 1972 , and in 1973 he graduated from the Aloisius College in Bad Godesberg . In 1974 he began studying psychology , philosophy and theology at the University of Freiburg im Uechtland , moved to the University of Trier in 1976 and later to Freiburg im Breisgau to the Albert Ludwig University , where he received his diploma in 1979. Since 1977 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau . After a retreat with Hans Urs von Balthasar in Kehrsiten , he entered the Trier seminary in 1979 . After being ordained as a deacon on December 19, 1981, he was ordained priest on July 10, 1982 in Trier by Bishop Hermann Josef Spital .

From 1982 to 1985 Hartmann was chaplain in Saarlouis- Fraulautern and from 1985 vicar in Remagen-Kripp . In 1988 he became pastor in Neuwied - Niederbieber . Other professional positions were Bad Säckingen (1990–1993 spa and clinic pastor), Vienna (1993–1996 university pastor), Kronach-Neuses and Theisenort (1996–2001), and Oberhaid (Upper Franconia) (since September 2001). In 2003 he was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Bamberg .

Public discussion of celibacy
