Stefan Hartmann (theologian)
Stefan Hartmann (born August 19, 1954 in Oberhausen - Sterkrade ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and writer.
Life
Hartmann attended the Benedictine College in Sarnen , Canton Obwalden, the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Oberhausen-Sterkrade and the Leibniz School in Hanover . As an AFS exchange student, he obtained the High School Diploma in Marshall , Minnesota in 1972 , and in 1973 he graduated from the Aloisius College in Bad Godesberg . In 1974 he began studying psychology , philosophy and theology at the University of Freiburg im Uechtland , moved to the University of Trier in 1976 and later to Freiburg im Breisgau to the Albert Ludwig University , where he received his diploma in 1979. Since 1977 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau . After a retreat with Hans Urs von Balthasar in Kehrsiten , he entered the Trier seminary in 1979 . After being ordained as a deacon on December 19, 1981, he was ordained priest on July 10, 1982 in Trier by Bishop Hermann Josef Spital .
From 1982 to 1985 Hartmann was chaplain in Saarlouis- Fraulautern and from 1985 vicar in Remagen-Kripp . In 1988 he became pastor in Neuwied - Niederbieber . Other professional positions were Bad Säckingen (1990–1993 spa and clinic pastor), Vienna (1993–1996 university pastor), Kronach-Neuses and Theisenort (1996–2001), and Oberhaid (Upper Franconia) (since September 2001). In 2003 he was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Bamberg .
Hartmann received his Lic. Theol. In 2004 due to a thesis on Hans Urs von Balthasar at the Catholic University of Eichstätt . and in 2008 based on the dissertation Mary in Salvation History. A systematic study of the history of theology of the Mariology of Heinrich M. Köster (with summa cum laude ) for Dr. theol. PhD. In addition to his books, he published numerous articles and book reviews (including in “Freiburger Rundbrief”, “Die Tagespost”, “Klerusblatt München”, “Mut” (Asendorf), “Voices of Time”).
In 2010 Hartmann published various articles under the title Locations in Heiligenkreuz (Vienna Woods) . Public discussion of celibacy
Hartmann gained nationwide fame when he admitted to being the father of a 24-year-old daughter in a night café broadcast on SWR on January 10, 2014. On January 15, 2014, the Archbishop's Ordinariate Bamberg prohibited Hartmann from continuing to express himself on celibacy by means of a monitio , since the priest's utterances "caused confusion among the faithful". Hartmann's attempt in 2012 to find a job as a pastor at two Protestant regional churches was also the subject of the letter. Hartmann broke off this project, but did not distance himself from it.
On January 21, 2014, the Archbishopric of Bamberg and Stefan Hartmann published a joint declaration. Hartmann had previously published the warning letter from the Archbishop's Ordinariate Bamberg on his Facebook page and via KNA.

In October 2015, Hartmann announced that he wanted to live with a woman in the future.
