Stefan Rapp (born February 10, 1972 ) is a former Austrian football player and now coach .

Career

As a player

Rapp came to the BNZ Tirol in the summer of 1988, where he was first used in the U17 and then in the U19. In the summer of 1991, the midfielder was transferred to the second team at FC Swarovski Tirol . After he failed to make the leap into the first team of the Bundesliga team , he switched to SK Rum in the Tyrolean regional league for half a year in January . In the summer he made a second attempt at FC Tirol, which he left again in the winter of 1993 and moved to SV Hall in the Regionalliga West . In the summer of 1994, Rapp was brought to SV Wörgl by coach Helmut Kraft .

In the summer of 1997 Rapp signed a professional contract with the second division black and white Bregenz under coach Srđan Gemaljević . He had his first professional appearance on July 19, 1997 in the 1: 2 home defeat against TSV Hartberg . He scored his first goal as a professional on March 8, 1998 in a 6-1 win against FC Kufstein . In his first season as a professional Rapp was allowed to refer over 25 missions, where he was called up in every game in the starting line-up and scored a total of three goals. On November 14, 1998, Rapp suffered his first and at the same time only exclusion in the professional area in the 3-2 win against DSV Leoben ; Referee Johann Liebert sent him into the dressing room three minutes before the end. With 26 appearances, 24 of which were in the starting line-up, Rapp played a key role in ensuring that Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz won the championship title in the first division at the end of the 1998/99 season and was promoted to the Bundesliga . Rapp also demonstrated his skills in the Bundesliga. At the end of the 1999/2000 season he had 29 appearances, including 22 in the starting lineup, and 5 goals. Rapp achieved a personal highlight on March 25, 2000 in the game against the Grazer AK , in which he contributed to the 3-1 success with two goals.

A long break from injury ended Rapp's Bundesliga career at Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz. That is why he tried to gain a foothold again in the first division of FC Lustenau 07 in January 2002 . After he only made eight appearances under coach Erik Orie , he left Vorarlberg in the summer of 2002 and moved to the WSG Wattens / FC Wacker Tirol syndicate in the Regionalliga West. This is also because he was offered a career as a precision mechanic at Swarovski . With Wattens / Wacker under coach Michael Streiter he won the championship title in the Regionalliga West and by winning the relegation against SV Schwechat the promotion to the 2nd division.

After the syndicate was dissolved after only one year after promotion and the promotion right was exercised by FC Wacker Tirol, which put together a new team, Rapp should have continued to play in the Tyrolean regional league. Rapp therefore moved to SV Hall in the summer of 2003 in order to be able to continue playing in the Regionalliga West. In the first 2003/04 season under coach Markus Schnellrieder , the championship title was narrowly missed with second place. With the move to the lower class SV Rinn in the summer of 2006, Rapp let his active career end.

As a trainer

Rapp started his first position as player-coach in the summer of 2007 at SV Absam. In summer 2009 he switched to SC Schwaz as a coach . At this time, Rapp also began his training as a football coach, which he completed with the diploma as a UEFA A license coach.

In September 2010, Walter Kogler brought him to FC Wacker Innsbruck as an individual coach. In January 2013 he was brought in by Robert Hochstaffl as assistant coach from Fuad Đulić to SC Ritzing in the Regionalliga Ost. Rapp took over from Djulic as head coach in January 2014. In the 2014/15 season, Rapp led Burgenland to the championship title in the Regionalliga Ost. Since the Ritzingers were refused a license by the Bundesliga due to the previous bankruptcy , they were not allowed to move up to the 2nd division. After it became apparent in April 2016 that the Ritzingen team would again be denied their license and thus promotion to the 2nd division - the Burgenlanders were the only club ever to apply for Regionalliga Ost - they withdrew the license application on their own initiative. As a consequence, Rapp, who has now settled in Neusiedl am See , resigned as coach of SC Ritzing.

In July 2017, Rapp was signed by Kapfenberger SV for the second team that plays in the Styrian regional league . After the first team coach Robert Pflug resigned his commitment on August 9, 2017 for private reasons (illness in the family) and three defeats in a row, club manager Herbert Wieger Rapp quickly appointed the head coach of the professional team. On May 18, 2018, Rapp was released immediately after the game against Floridsdorfer AC (3: 3). The reason for the dismissal was that Rapp announced in an interview with the TV broadcaster Sky-Sport Austria that he would end his engagement with Kapfenberger SV after the end of the season.

In January 2019 he became coach of the regional division SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 . With Parndorf he was relegated from the Regionalliga Ost at the end of the 2018/19 season. Then he left the Burgenland.

In August 2019 he became the trainer of the fourth class ASKÖ Oedt .
