Stefan Studer (born January 30, 1964 in Buxtehude ) is a former German football player and official.

Career as a player

About the youth teams of PSV Buxtehude , the TV house break-Neugraben and Hamburger SV of the defensive players came Studer FC St. Pauli , which he in the 1984/85 season after 32 appearances (one goal) and promoted to the 2. Bundesliga the Relegation to the league had to accept. Studer initially switched to league competitor Hummelsbütteler SV, but returned during the season. In 1986/87 St. Pauli rose again to the second division and only failed to make it through to the 1st Bundesliga in the relegation against FC 08 Homburg . Studer was able to score two goals in 36 appearances. In the following season , Studer played another 33 games for FC St. Pauli, who rose to second in the Bundesliga, but moved to future Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of the season .

In Frankfurt, Stefan Studer played 128 Bundesliga appearances, 16 DFB Cup and 13 European Cup games in five seasons between 1988 and 1993 . In the crisis-ridden 1988/89 season, things were still rather mixed for the newcomer, with 23 Bundesliga games and two goals to book. In the first few games he was part of the tribe, but received the red card in the game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern soon after the Olympic break on October 29, 1988 . Three days earlier, he had scored his first European Cup goal in the 43rd minute of the first leg of the first leg of the European Cup Winners' Cup at a 3-0 break against Sakaryaspor . In the Bundesliga, he was only used again in the last group game. The decisive 1-0 win by Dirk Bakalorz was only Eintracht's eighth goal in their first 17 games. In the second half of the season things went a little better for him and the whole team under coach Jörg Berger , but the relegation only succeeded in relegation. In the first leg against 1. FC Saarbrücken Studer struck a free kick in the 26th minute from the outside left in a high arc into the Saarbrücken penalty area on Jørn Andersen , which only needed to nod off to make it 1-0. After Manfred Binz got the final score in the 60th minute of the game, a 1: 2 was enough to keep the league in the second leg, so that this template on June 26, 1989 in retrospect is one of the most important game situations of his career.

In the following two seasons, 1989/90 and 1990/91 , Stefan Studer was one of the club's top performers with 33 appearances each and was even seen in some media among the broader group of potential candidates for the national team . In his parade position, the left wing, he flourished next to Bein (central) and Falkenmayer (half left) and played a decisive role in the fact that Eintracht strengthened again during this time and finally qualified several times in a row for the European Cup. In the 1991/92 season Studer did not belong to the regular formation of Eintracht with 18 missions, which gambled away the championship against relegated Hansa Rostock on the 38th matchday, and left Frankfurt after another 21 missions at the end of the 1992/93 season.

At the Bundesliga club Wattenscheid 09 , Studer played 26 missions in the following season 1993/94 in the service of the relegated, who occupied the penultimate place in the table. Studer then moved to the second division Hannover 96 , for which he came to 32 missions in 1994/95 and was twelfth in the second division.

Studer then changed clubs again and joined Bundesliga promoted Hansa Rostock , for whom he made 89 appearances in the top German division between 1995/96 and 1997/98 and scored six goals before ending his active career in 1998.

Career as a functionary

In July 2006, Studer succeeded Herbert Maronn as manager of FC Hansa Rostock and as such was jointly responsible for Rostock's ascent to the 2006/07 Bundesliga . At the end of the season, however, he was replaced by his predecessor Maronn after falling out with coach Frank Pagelsdorf , under whom he had already played in 1995/96. From July 2007 to June 2008, Stefan Studer then worked as a scout at FC Hansa.

In January 2009 he signed a contract as head scout at FC St. Pauli . This contract was extended in 2011 to 2015, but terminated in November 2012 at his request towards the end of the year. Since January 2013 he has been part of the scouting department of Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

Studer is a trained banker . Before his career as a football official, he worked at Hypovereinsbank as a branch manager in Jork , Lower Saxony . In 2002 he graduated from the German Sports University in Cologne , the manager license for football coach .
