Steffen Heidrich (born July 19, 1967 in Erlabrunn ) is a former German soccer player .

In his youth, Steffen Heidrich played for BSG Messgeräte Beierfeld and in 1980 moved to the junior division of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt . For FCK and its successor Chemnitzer FC, Heidrich played 128 games in the GDR league from December 1984 and scored 31 goals. He was an important part of the team that experienced its most successful period after the championship season 1966/67 at the end of the 1980s .

After two years in the 2nd Bundesliga with Chemnitzer FC, Heidrich joined VfB Leipzig in 1993 , which had just been promoted to the Bundesliga . In the 1993/94 season , Heidrich played 30 Bundesliga games for Leipzig and scored four goals. However, he could not prevent the descent.

After the Leipzig team were relegated to the regional league in 1998 , Heidrich moved to Energie Cottbus . Although he was thrown back again and again by injuries, as captain he played a major role in the Lusatians' Bundesliga promotion in 2000. In the 2000/01 Bundesliga season , Heidrich was only on the field twice and therefore moved to Dynamo Dresden in the summer of 2001 Oberliga . There he immediately became a leading player and was able to advance twice with the Dresden team within three years. In the first second division season of Dynamo Dresden 2004/05 , Heidrich played only eight games due to injury and ended his career at the end of the season.

Selection bets

Heidrich scored two goals in nine matches for the DFV's junior team by the end of 1987. At the U-21 European Championship in 1988 , this team did not make it into the final round. The FCK midfielder had previously accrued once in October 1982 in the U-18s . With the GDR Juniors he lost to Hungary in Orosháza with 0: 5.

On April 11, 1990 Steffen Heidrich came to his only assignment in the jersey of the GDR national team . In Karl-Marx-Stadt, the team of coach Eduard Geyer won 2-0 against Egypt . Fifteen days after his debut in the A-Eleven, when the B selection left , he played another selection before the dissolution of GDR football : In Glasgow, the East Germans won 2-1 against the Scottish second representation.

Further career in football

After working as a team manager at 1. FC Dynamo Dresden for two years, Steffen Heidrich returned to Cottbus. In Lusatia, the former leading player took on the role of manager from June 1, 2006 to August 10, 2009. With his resignation as manager, he took responsibility for the relegation to the 2nd division.

On January 9, 2012, FC Erzgebirge Aue presented Heidrich as the new sports director at a press conference. After the team had only got one point from five games, the club announced on March 4, 2013 the separation from Heidrich.

Private

Heidrich is married to a lawyer and has a daughter (* 2004). He lives with his family in Dresden - Langebrück . At the TU Dresden he graduated as a club manager.
