The Stena Nordica is a RoPax ship that is used by the Stena Line as a ferry in the Baltic Sea . The ship, which was built in 2000, changed owners and routes several times.

history

European Ambassador (2000-2004)

The ship was built in 2000 for P&O Irish Sea as a European Ambassador . The ship was launched on August 18, 2000. On December 13, 2000, the ship was delivered to Lombard Facilites / P&O Irish Ferries. It was used between Liverpool and Dublin from January 2001 . The ship was christened on January 26, 2001 in Dublin. Later it was used between Mostyn and Dublin or Cherbourg and Dublin. In 2004 the ship moved to Stena Line , which operated it together with P&O between Fleetwood and Larne as well as Dublin and Mostyn.

Stena Nordica (2004-2015)

After the cessation of traffic between Fleetwood and Larne or Dublin and Mostyn, the ship was sold to Stena Line in 2004 and renamed Stena Nordica . The shipping company used the ship between Karlskrona and Gdynia . While shipyard of stays Stena Seat Rader or Stena Europe in 2008 sailed the Stena Nordica temporarily routes Fishguard - Rosslare or Dublin Holyhead . In February 2008, the ship returned to the Baltic Sea before it was deployed in the Irish Sea in October 2008 , replacing the Stena Seatrader , on whose route a ship with a larger capacity was needed. It later operated again between Karlskrona and Gdynia, until it was replaced by the Stena Vision and Stena Spirit in 2011 and then used between Holyhead and Dublin.

Malo Seaways (2015-2016)

In early 2015, the Stena Superfast X replaced the previous Dieppe Seaways , the Stena Nordica . The Stena Nordica was then chartered by DFDS Seaways and from April 2015 operated as Malo Seaways as a replacement for Dieppe Seaways on the Calais - Dover route .

Stena Nordica (since 2016)

In May 2016 Grandi Navi Veloci chartered the ship, now renamed Stena Nordica, and used it on the Genoa - Barcelona route from June to September 2016 .

For a short time, from the end of November 2016 to December 2016, the Stena Nordica Stena Line route Travemünde - Liepaja was used, then in December 2016 on the route Nynäshamn - Ventspils . From January to March 2017, the ship operated the Rosslare - Fishguard route . From March 2017 to January 2018 it operated the Travemünde – Liepaja route and from January to February 2018 the Karlskrona - Gdynia route . In February and March 2018, the Stena Nordica was used again between Ventspils and Nynäshamn and then operated between Liepaja and Travemünde until September 2018. From September to October 2018 the ship operated the Ventspils – Nynäshamn route. The ship has been in service between Karlskrona and Gdynia since October 2018.

Data

The ship is around 170 meters long and 24 meters wide. Sister ships are the European Causeway and European Highlander , which are used by P&O between Cairnryan and Larne .
