Ströhen is a district of the Wagenfeld community in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . To separate it from the neighboring Prussian Ströhen ( Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia ), it is also called Hannoversch Ströhen or Hanover Ströhen .
geography
Ströhen is in the center of the Diepholzer Moorniederung , seven kilometers east of the core town of Wagenfeld; the state border with North Rhine-Westphalia runs to the south at a distance of 1.5 km. The Große Aue , a 84.5 km long, southwest or left tributary of the Weser, flows through Ströhen in a northerly direction .
Ströhen is the intersection of the three state roads L 343 , L 347 and L 349 .
history
On March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Wagenfeld.
Infrastructure / basic needs
The station Ströhen (Han) was due to the Bassum-Herford railway which now in this area shut down is. There is a primary school and a kindergarten run by the DRK in Ströhen . The Sparkasse operates a branch in town. The Ströhen volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help and runs a youth fire brigade . Two vets and a dentist have their practices in Ströhen. A Protestant church is located in the center.
economy
Ströhen is best known for the Ströhen zoo , which is privately owned by the Ismer family.
The “ European Expert Center Moor and Climate ” (EFMK) is based in the “Moorwelten” exhibition and conference building that opened in 2014 .
Draisine traffic and moor railway
On the former Rahden - Ströhen (Han.) Railway line , there is now a railroad trolley service for tourists. In the old train station of Ströhen, a former moor railway, converted into a tourist railway, connects . The approximately 3.5 km long route leads to the Neustädter Moor nature reserve . It ends near the Schäferhof Teerling, where a moor path begins in the moor.
church
The Protestant church is a neo-Gothic brick building with a transept , a choir closed on three sides and an envisioned square west tower .
