Street Food (including street food ) than Anglizismus an expression for food and drinks, which for a snack either a food carts out on a public traffic area, on a market or fair offered or traveling consumed on a public traffic area in the stay (Engl .: "Take away"; AmE: " To go ").

According to a 2007 study by the FAO , 2.5 billion people eat street food every day, and urban households in South America spend up to 30 percent of household spending on street food. In Bangkok, 20,000 street food dealers supply city residents with an estimated 40 percent of their daily grocery needs . Street food is not only cheap, it can also be nutritious. A study from Calcutta , India found that the average street food meal contained 30 grams of protein , 15 grams of fat and 180 grams of carbohydrates .

In New York City there has been an annual street food competition since 2005 with the Vendy Awards (from English vendor for "seller"), in which the seller of the year is chosen by a jury. In the US, the term Food Truck Party is common.
