Game description

General gameplay

Subway Surfers is a game with no defined ending. It belongs to the genre of platforming games. The game, developed for smartphones and tablet PCs , can be installed and played free of charge. The financing takes place via a freemium system ( free-to-play ).

The game is about a gang of graffiti -Sprayern that of an overseer ( Inspector be discovered) with dog and then pursued. This chase is the content of the game. The goal is to hold out as long as possible. In the game, coins are collected and obstacles are overcome. The player must use the touchscreen to steer the character left, right, up (jump) or down (crouch), but cannot, as in similar games, e.g. B. Temple Run , by moving the mobile device, move them yourself. Powerups bring certain advantages for a limited time. For example, you can use the Coin Magnet to attract coins and therefore no longer have to collect them. The game ends when you are caught by the overseer. So-called hoverboards can protect the player from this for a certain time. If you have been caught for the first time, you have the option of being able to continue playing by watching a commercial or by using a key. From the second time on, if you have previously decided on the commercial, you can only prevent the end by using keys. With the help of missions you can increase a so-called multiplier , with which the score is multiplied. This means that higher high scores can be achieved with the same performance. At the beginning the multiplier is 1. It can be increased up to 30. An advanced player can achieve a maximum of 30 times the score than a player who is just starting out with the same performance. Even after reaching the highest multiplier, missions can still be completed. As a reward, there is a so-called Super Mystery Box . This is a large form of the normal Mystery Box that can be collected in the game from time to time. In both cases random prizes are awarded, but with the Super Mystery Box these are significantly larger.

There are also time-dependent specials in the game. So there is a so-called word hunt every day . Letters must be collected in the course of the game. If all letters of a word (usually three to seven letters) have been collected, there is a reward in the form of coins. If several word hunts are completed on consecutive days, the scope of the reward increases. From the fifth day on there will be a Super Mystery Box instead of a coin reward . A Weekly Hunt is also advertised every week . Here the player must also collect items. These are always subject-related. The scope and reward increase for three consecutive weeks.

The player can connect the program with his Facebook account to play against friends and earn coins and keys. Various characters , hoverboards and powerups can be acquired with these coins and keys . Some characters can only be obtained by collecting certain items in the Mystery Boxes and Super Mystery Boxes . Keys and coins can also be purchased with real money ( micropayment , € 1.09 to € 104.99), with which the developers - in addition to advertising - earn money. The game's locations change every three to four weeks, resulting in a world tour. Even before that there were special seasonal versions: the Halloween version (later New Orleans ) and the Christmas version (later London ).

Characters

In addition to the standard play figure named Jake, there are 16 other play figures that can be unlocked by collecting or buying appropriate game items, mostly coins. Depending on the location and topic, there are also limited characters, e.g. Zombie Jake, that can be bought for a short time. The overseer also changed his appearance. At Wild Wednesday there are always offers, also for hoverboards. The normal characters are Yutani, Spike, Fresh, Tricky, Dino (Facebook special), Frank, Frizzy, King, Lucy, Ninja, Tagbot, Tasha, Zoe, Brod, Prince K, Miss Maia and Boombot (available with a purchase).

Powerups and Mystery Boxes

The following powerups can be collected during the course of the game

  • Power Jumper (For a short time you fly and collect coins. At the end you can catch another powerup)
  • Jetpack (for a certain time you fly over the playing field and can collect coins)
  • Great sneakers (for a certain time you jump a little higher than normal)
  • Coin Magnet (The coins are attracted for a certain time)
  • 2X multiplier (the multiplier is doubled for a certain time)
  • Key (allows you to continue a lost game)
  • Mystery Box (You get prizes such as coins, items and trophies , sometimes to be collected in the game)

In addition, coins can be used to buy:

  • Hoverboard (for a certain time you can be caught by the supervisor once without the game ending [double press to activate])
  • Score Booster (the multiplier is doubled for one round)
  • Mega Headstart (a certain distance of a game round is skipped; highscore and multiplier run with)

The Super Mystery Box is an exception . This is a more valuable version of the Mystery Box . It can be obtained through completed mission sets or Word Hunts. Every Friday, on so-called Fabulous Friday , it can also - very rarely - be collected during the normal course of the game.

Improvements are possible for Jetpack, Super Sneakers, Coin Magnet and 2X Multiplier, which can be bought for coins. There are six levels each. The higher the level, the longer the effect.

On Mystery Monday , random powerups such as B. Double jump, 10X multiplier and hoverboard ride generated, which also work in a certain time.

Keys and coins can also be purchased for real money (micropayment), which saves you the tedious work of collecting. In addition, by watching videos, keys or other prizes can be earned and the coins collected can be doubled (up to 10,000 coins).

Awards

You can get awards if you have confirmed certain accomplishments (e.g. 210 missions completed). First you get a bronze award with low prices to a diamond award with high prices. The prices are keys (three for bronze, five for silver, eight for gold and ten for diamond).

Medals

You can play against each other locally by being placed in a rank for high scores . Several players can be in one rank. If you are in the 1st rank you get a diamond medal, in the 2nd rank a gold medal, in the 3rd rank a silver medal and in the 4th rank a bronze medal. You can use the medals for awards.
