With the Grand Jury Prize ( Grand Jury Prize: Documentary ) is the annually organized Sundance Film Festival the best US documentary prize (including co-productions) in competition. This makes it the most important award of the film festival, alongside the Grand Jury Prize for feature films .

The prize has been awarded since the first edition of the film festival in 1984. A five-member jury, which changes annually and consists mainly of US filmmakers, decides on the award. So far, only the two documentary filmmakers Ondi Timoner (2004 and 2009) and Eugene Jarecki (2005 and 2012) have won the award more than once.
